Once there was a big brown dog . . .

• “Once there was a big brown dog…” Students wrote in their folder. They continued the story for about a minute.
• Then students passed their papers to a writing partner. The writing partner added a few more sentences to the new story.
• Finally the original author reclaimed their story.
• Some stories took place in the jungle, another involved a helicopter, and several included numerous adventures.
